Mega History: Formed in 1991 as a result of the personal desire for a surf kayak that was not available from other manufacturers in the UK. The first Mega "Jester" was produced in humble beginnings in a garden shed. Just three months after it first took to the surf, Simon Discombe and Clive Kerswell paddled "Jesters" to World Titles in Thurso, Scotland. The demand for "Jesters" both in the UK and the USA meant the formation of "Mega".
From those humble beginnings Mega Kayaks have been used to win a multitude of National, International and World Titles in competition as well as on expeditions and of course recreational paddling.
The company now produces several variations of their original "Jesters" idea: Maverick Surf Kayaks, Neutron Surf Kayaks, X-Ray Surf Kayak, Composite Reflex Surf Kayak, Composite Scaraab Surf Kayak, etc.

Mavericks performance is astounding.
Fast, tight carving turns with great dive back up the face of the wave. Designed very much along the lines of modern wave ski hulls the Maverick turns very much "Off the Tail" making incredibly tight cut backs and lip turns. Down the line speed is awesome! |
